WE HAVE A SOLAR PANEL FUNDRAISER LIVE.
Because you have been a supporter of Saidiana, we wanted to share our latest efforts. We currently have a fundraising campaign live on Chuffed.org. Please click on the button below to view the video on the website from one of our entrepreneurs. The absence of electricity dominates the struggle of daily life for Congolese women. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, power in the form of electricity gives power to these entrepreneurs and improves the lives of women and children. We want to purchase solar panels for these women. This renewable energy source will provide the women in our trade school with better working conditions and allow them to run their businesses more effectively. They will use the electricity generated from solar panels to run their freezers, illuminate classrooms, and teach their children. Addingelectricity to this building will ensure it becomes a place where women can stay knowing that they have some additional safety, all in a sustainable and affordable manner.
NEW BOARD MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
We are excited to announce that Toi Gibbs has joined our board! Toi is a Senior Procurement professional for a leading aerospace company in Redondo Beach, CA. She holds an MBA from MountSaint Mary’s University, Los Angeles. Her passion is customer service and making the impossible possible for both internal and external clients. She seeks to contribute and make a difference for the women supported by Saidiana.
PROJECT REVIEW UPDATE
We are in the process of reviewing two new projects submitted by the women in Lubumbashi. The first is a new land project to build a new hair salon. This land would provide a better location with more foot traffic for hair salon graduates to work. The second project under review is a pharmaceutical project. The main consideration for this project is whether the women should acquire an existing business or build one from the ground up.
